Monday, April 9th

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all had a restful break!

Today we started with our journals and vocabulary #9 (Quiz Friday). 

I also gave out permission slips- please get them signed so we can watch the movie >> Othello Permission Slip.

We started a new unit- “Othello!” Then, we looked at “Shakespeare lingo” >>  shakespeare-lingo-student-copy.

After, we started reading!! If you need the text, click HERE. 

With each act, we will filling out a study guide and quotes.

I also gave students the permission slip to watch “Othello” after we read each Act >> Othello Permission Slip.

We got through Act 1, scene 1 and part of scene 2.

Please remember that ALL make-up work (before this unit) is due THIS FRIDAY>NO EXCEPTIONS.

Friday, March 30th

Hey Everyone!
Today we started with our journal and turned it in. I didn’t want students to have to keep up with the journals over break.

Then we relaxed and had a food day!!!

Please have a great Spring Break.

Remember – IF YOU HAVE MAKE-UP WORK THAT YOU NEED TO TURN IN, IT MUST BE TURNED IN BY THE FRIDAY AFTER BREAK.

Thursday, March 29th

Hey Everyone!

Today we started with our journal.

After, we finished the documentary with Elie Wiesel and Oprah (see yesterday’s post).

Then, we submitted our papers!!!

Wednesday, March 28th

Hey Everyone!

Today we started with our journal.

Then, we watched “Oprah’s Auschwitz Death Camp with Elie Wiesel.” If you need or want the video, — click HERE. 

Those that had their papers completed were able to peer review! We used this template >> Peer Editing Worksheet and it was a grade that it was completed!!  PLEASE GET YOUR PAPER DONE.

We are submitting them during class tomorrow, Thursday, to turnitin.com .

Tuesday, March 27th

Hey Everyone!

Today we started with our journal.

Then, we watched some of “Schindler’s List” and worked on our papers! Here are the questions >>  Schindler List Part 4.

We also looked at this quick PowerPoint from Oscar Schindler >> Oscar Schindler Introduction.

Our papers are due TOMORROW for peer review – Thursday for submission.

Friday, March 23rd

Hey Everyone!

Today we started with our journal.

Then, we took our “Night” test. After, I allowed students to work on their papers!

Thursday, March 22nd

Hey Everyone!

Today we started with our journal.

We finished chapter 7,8, and 9>> Chapter 7 Activities and Chapter 8 and 9 Activities 2015.  

The question forms for #7-#9 will be extra credit for the test!

Then, we took a short quiz over #7-#9.

We played a couple of Kahoot games to review for the test tomorrow >>

After, we worked review, questions, and paper. The paper is due next Wednesday.  

Wednesday, March 21st

After, we worked on this literary device sheet as it relates to “Night” >>Figurative Language and Elie Wiesel.

We also took a short quiz over “Night” ch. 5-6.

I also gave out a review sheet for our test Friday >> Night Test Review 2017

^^ This is due FRIDAY- the day of the “Night” test. 

I gave students about 15-20 minutes to work on their questions for chapter 6, their review sheet for the test, or their papers.

Please also work on your introductory paragraphs :  Introduction Planning Sheet. I’m going to be checking tomorrow so make sure that you have it done.

Tuesday, March 20th

Hey Everyone!

Today we started with our journal. I am out school at a yearbook training so there is a substitute. Here are the sub plans >> Sub Plans March 20th

We finished chapter 6 of “Night” ( just a couple of pages) >> Chapter 6 Activities.

Then, we worked on Direct and Indirect Characterization (a review from the first unit) >> Characterization in Night. 

After, we worked on characterization and figurative devices >> Figurative Language and Characterization in Night.

If time allows, we started chapter 7 of “Night” >> Chapter 7 Activities .

For Wednesday, all of this work (minus chapter 7) is DUE. 

We will have computers to work on the papers tomorrow (Wednesday) through next Tuesday for peer review, but please be working on your paper!
